With the volume of motor vehicles and other heavy machinery on the roads, in the sky, and sailing the seas, the need to safeguard against user's that have become intoxicated for a period of time to use these vehicles and machinery is quite apparent.
Currently, even though there are ignition interlock systems in place, there are issues involving the implementation and monitoring of these systems.
First, most systems being sold on the market are very crude and require user's to have installed on their vehicles interlock systems that are crude and bulky, requiring the user pay hundreds of dollars not only for the equipment, but also for the installation. Loran Technologies patented transponder breathalyzer is the solution. The breathalyzer system instead uses a fuel sensor cell built right into the vehicle's remote transmitter. The system then communicates with the immobilizer system to determine whether to release the interlock on the vehicle's ignition or prevent the vehicle from being started, requiring the user to retest, until the user's BAC level is below the set threshold.
Second, the current systems require that an individual blow into the breathalyzer to allow the interlock to be released. However, these systems have no recognition whether who is doing the BAC testing. Loran Technologies has the solution. Our patented voice recognition ignition interlock and voice recognition transponder breathalyzer systems prevent unauthorized use by other individuals who's voice have not been pre-programmed into the system, thereby preventing a user's none intoxicated friend from blowing into the system and releasing the ignition interlock and allowing the intoxicated user to operate the vehicle or machinery.
The remote breathalyzer system uses an advanced fuel cell sensor to detect the blood alcohol content (BAC) of the user. If the user's BAC reading is below the set threshold, the interlock is released and the vehicle or other machinery can be started. However, if the user's BAC reading is above the set threshold, the unit will become none operational and the user will have to wait to retest. Only until the user's BAC reading has dropped below the set threshold will the vehicle or machinery become operational.
The remote breathalyzer system is available in three different versions depending on the needs and demands of the government agencies and private entities:
1) Breathalyzer system requiring a user have his BAC level tested before the vehicle is allowed to be started;
2) Breathalyzer system with speech recognition requiring a password or passphrase be spoken into the system before allowing the user to test his BAC level; and
3) Breathalyzer system with user voice recognition requiring only those individuals who's voices have been pre-programmed into the breathalyzer to be able to test their BAC level.
The applications for these systems are limitless. The basic idea is for those who have violated statutory law and are required by court order to have these systems installed in their vehicles. However, we at Loran Technologies see a far greater potential for our one of a kind technology. These systems can be easily implemented on fleet vehicles, such as work trucks, vans, or freight trucks; heavy machinery, such as construction vehicles or factory or port equipment; ships, such as cruise ships, oil tankers, or naval vessels; and aviation, such as commercial airlines or cargo airplanes.
